Handcrafted Through a Controlled Process

Every custom strap is made to order in our Hanoi workshop. From leather selection to edge finishing and final inspection, each step is handled with control, patience and attention to detail.

Review Your Configuration
We check your selected leather, colour, size, buckle, stitching, lining and notes before crafting begins.

Select & Cut the Leather
The leather is selected and cut according to your chosen strap width, length and style.

Assemble & Stitch
The layers are assembled and stitched by hand in the thread colour you picked.

Finish the Edges
Edges are sanded, burnished and sealed — the step that decides how the strap ages.

Final Inspection
Every strap is checked against your order before it is packed.

Quick release spring bars
Choose quick release or regular spring bars. We fit them before it ships, so you can change straps in seconds — no tools, no scratched lugs.

Soft Zermatt lining
The underside is lined with soft, water-resistant Zermatt — comfortable against the skin all day, and in warm weather.

Your name on the lining
Initials or a name, hand-stamped into the lining free of charge, so the piece on your wrist is one of one.

How it is made

The XILUGS Crafting Process

01
Cutting the Leather
Cut by hand from a full hide against a steel rule — never die-pressed in batches.
02
Skiving
The edges are pared thinner so the strap folds without a ridge under your wrist.

Reinforcement
A reinforcement layer is set in where the strap takes the most stress.
04
Hammering
The layers are hammered flat so they sit true before they are bonded.

Assembly
Outer leather and Zermatt lining are laid up together and aligned by hand.

Rolling
The layers are rolled under pressure to bond them into one piece.
07
Shaping
The strap is cut to its final profile and the tip is shaped.

Edge Sanding
The raw edge is sanded through descending grits until the layers read as one.

Punching the Stitch Holes
Holes are struck with a pricking iron at a constant angle — what gives a hand seam its slant.

Saddle Stitching
By hand: two needles, one waxed thread, every hole passed twice. It cannot be done by machine.

Edge Creasing
A heated creaser draws a fine line along the edge, framing the stitch.

Edge Painting
The burnished edge is sealed and hand-painted in thin coats to match the leather.

Keepers
The keeper loops that hold the tail are made and fitted by hand.

Buckle Holes
The pin holes are punched to the exact length you ordered, not a standard pattern.

Fitting the Buckle
The buckle is fitted in the finish you chose.

Spring Bars
Quick-release spring bars are fitted so the strap goes on your watch without tools.

Quality Control
Every strap is checked against your order and against itself before it leaves.
