Seiko Presage Leather Strap: 20mm Fit Guide and 5 Sports Picks
A Seiko Presage leather strap for the Cocktail Time SRPB41 or SRPB43 must be 20 mm wide, the gap Seiko lists between the lugs. The SKX-style Seiko 5 Sports SRPD55 takes 22 mm. Pick the length from your wrist, then choose a leather that suits either a dressy dial or a tool case.
The Presage Cocktail Time is Seiko's dress-leaning automatic: Seiko lists it at 40.5 mm across and 11.8 mm thick, with the 4R35 movement and a box-shaped crystal. At XILUGS, a replacement strap for it is cut to your lug width at our Ha Noi bench, one artisan per strap through all 18 steps, and finished within 3–5 business days.
What lug width do the Presage and 5 Sports take?
Seiko prints the distance between the lugs on its own pages for the Presage SRPB41, the Presage SRPB43 and the 5 Sports SRPD55. Those three figures settle the width before you think about color.
| Model | Lug width | Case thickness |
|---|---|---|
| Presage SRPB41 | 20 mm | 11.8 mm |
| Presage SRPB43 | 20 mm | 11.8 mm |
| 5 Sports SRPD55 | 22 mm | 13.4 mm |
Other Presage and 5 Sports references can differ, so check the page for your exact model number on Seiko's site. If your watch is not listed, a ruler laid between the lugs gives the answer in seconds, and our walkthrough on measuring lug width with a ruler shows where to read it.

Width at the buckle end is your choice. Our ready-made straps come as 20/18 mm or 20/20 mm for the Presage and 22/20 mm or 22/18 mm for the 5 Sports. A taper to 18 mm looks slimmer under a dress cuff, while a straight cut feels sturdier on a sports case.
Which leathers suit a Cocktail Time dial?
On a Presage the dial is the main event, so the strap works best when it frames the dial rather than competing with it. Three leathers we would shortlist for a 20 mm Presage:
- Alligator: the classic dress choice. Large square scales add depth without shine overload, and chocolate or black keeps the dial as the focus.
- Lizard: small, tight scales and a slim profile that suits a 40.5 mm case worn under a shirt cuff.
- Swift calfskin: smooth and soft, a quiet everyday option when you want the watch dressy but not formal.
A dark strap on a light or blue dial gives the strongest contrast. A tan or taupe strap softens the look and suits warmer dials. You can compare the full range in our alligator watch strap collection, and our Grand Seiko strap guide covers the same dress approach on a higher Seiko line.

Exotic leathers going to the US from Vietnam travel with export paperwork. If you plan to order alligator, read the official US Fish & Wildlife CITES page and email us first so we can confirm the documents for your order.
Should the strap be flat or padded?
Thickness is where the two Seiko families split. The Presage case is 11.8 mm and sits fairly low, while the 5 Sports SRPD55 is 13.4 mm with a chunkier, diver-style shape. Strap height should follow the case:
- Presage SRPB41 or SRPB43: flat or lightly padded, so the strap stays slimmer than the case at the lugs.
- 5 Sports SRPD55: padded, which fills the wider 22 mm gap and balances the taller case.
Every leather in our builder can be made flat or in one of three padded shapes. Our comparison of padded and flat watch straps goes through each profile with photos.

A flat strap also breaks in faster and folds neatly behind the keeper. Padding holds its shape longer, which is useful on a heavier watch that pulls the strap down over the day.
How do you dress down an SKX-style 5 Sports?
Seiko files the 5 Sports SRPD55 under its SKX series and lists a 42.5 mm case with 10 bar water resistance. That rating does not make leather waterproof, so keep swims for a rubber strap and save leather for dry days.
On dry land, a 22 mm leather strap turns the diver into a weekend watch. These options look right on a diver-style case:
- Waxed cowhide: oily and matte, it shows lighter streaks where it flexes and darkens as you wear it.
- Canvas with leather trim: light and casual, with a leather keeper and a leather panel at the holes.
- Rally leather: round racing holes and contrast stitching for a sporty, vintage look.

Browse the waxed cowhide straps or the canvas and sailcloth range for more colors. Both come in 22 mm with a 20 mm or 18 mm buckle end.
Color can follow the bezel. A black bezel goes with almost any brown, while a blue or orange dial looks good against gray canvas or tan leather.

The buckle on this canvas strap is gold tone. For the steel 5 Sports, our silver Classic buckle is the closer match and costs nothing extra.
Pin buckle or folding clasp?
Seiko lists the leather-strap SRPB43 with a three-fold clasp and push-button release, so many Presage owners are used to a folding closure. Our builder offers four closures:
- Classic pin buckle: included, in silver or black.
- Pre-V buckle: +$5, a curved frame that looks good on a dress strap.
- Butterfly clasp: +$10, a hidden fold that leaves the strap looking unbroken.
- Deployant clasp: +$25, closest in feel to the SRPB43's factory clasp.
A folding clasp spares the leather from being bent at the same hole every day, which helps an alligator strap keep its shape. On a casual 5 Sports strap, a pin buckle is simpler and lighter.
What strap length fits your wrist?
Length depends on your wrist, not the watch. Wrap a soft tape just above the wrist bone, snug but not tight, and match it to these lengths from our size guide:
- 15.6–16.5 cm wrist: 115/70 mm
- 16.6–17.5 cm wrist: 115/75 mm
- 17.6–18.5 cm wrist: 125/75 mm
- 18.6–19.5 cm wrist: 125/85 mm
Seiko lists the SRPD55 at 46 mm from lug tip to lug tip, which wears smaller than its 42.5 mm diameter suggests, so a standard length usually fits. Between two sizes, take the larger or choose Custom size in the builder and type your own lengths.

FAQ
What size strap does the Seiko Presage Cocktail Time take?
The SRPB41 and SRPB43 take a 20 mm strap, the distance between the lugs on Seiko's own product pages. Other Presage references can differ, so confirm your model number before ordering.
Is the Seiko 5 Sports SRPD55 20 mm or 22 mm?
It is 22 mm. Seiko lists 22 between the lugs for the SRPD55, the SKX-style 5 Sports with a 42.5 mm case.
Will a leather strap fit the Presage's factory clasp?
Our straps come with their own closure, so you do not need the Seiko clasp. Choose a pin buckle, Pre-V, butterfly or deployant clasp in the builder.
Can I change the strap myself?
Yes. Each XILUGS strap comes with regular or quick-release spring bars. Quick-release bars have a small lever, so you can swap straps by hand without a tool.
How long does delivery to the US take?
Each strap is made after you order, in 3–5 business days, then US shipping takes about 10–12 days. Shipping to the US is $5.99 and free on orders over $350.
