What is XILUGS?

XILUGS is a watch strap maker based in Ha Noi, Vietnam, selling mainly to customers in the United States in US dollars. It operates as a trading name of LunLeather LLC. Every strap is hand-cut from a full hide and saddle-stitched by hand in the XILUGS workshop rather than bought in from a factory. Nothing is cut until an order arrives, so each strap is made to the buyer's lug width, length, thickness, buckle and stitch colour.

Where are XILUGS watch straps made?

All XILUGS straps are made in the brand's own workshop at 90 Nguyen Tuan Street, Thanh Xuan, Ha Noi, Vietnam. The same address handles returns. The workshop has around 20 artisans, and one artisan takes each strap through all 18 steps, from cutting to the final pin holes.

How are XILUGS straps made?

Each strap is hand-cut from the full hide against a steel rule, with no laser or die cutting. The leather is skived, backed with a reinforcement layer and lined with Zermatt, a soft, water-resistant lining (Epsom or Togo linings are optional). It is saddle-stitched by hand with two needles and one waxed thread, then the edges are sanded, creased and hand-painted in 3–5 thin coats. The full sequence is shown on our 18-step crafting process page.

What leathers does XILUGS use?

Regular leathers: Epsom, Togo, Swift, Babele and Nappa calfskin, full-grain cowhide, waxed cowhide, goatskin (Alran Chèvre), Italian bull, the hand-dyed vegetable-tanned XILUGS Signature Patina and Wood Grain Patina. Exotic leathers: alligator (including Himalaya and patina alligator), ostrich (full quill and smooth), ostrich leg, lizard, beaver tail, shark and stingray. XILUGS also makes canvas and sailcloth straps with leather trim. Browse them all in handmade watch straps.

What sizes and options can I choose?

Lug widths run from 12 to 24 mm in pairs, with custom widths on request. Lengths run from 105/65 mm to 135/105 mm. Flat straps come in 2.5, 3.5 or 4.5 mm at the lug; padded straps in 3.5, 4.5, 5.0 or 5.5 mm. Options include a straight or curved end (+$15), regular, square, oval or pilot tips, a classic buckle in silver, gold, rose gold or black, a Pre-V buckle (+$5) or butterfly clasp (+$10), quick-release or regular spring bars, selectable stitch, edge, underlay and keeper colours, and free engraving of up to 12 characters on the lining. The watch strap size guide explains how to measure lug width and wrist size.

How much does a XILUGS strap cost?

Regular leather straps start from $69, Epsom calfskin from $75, and exotic leathers such as alligator, ostrich leg and lizard from $105. A fully configured strap can reach about $185. You can choose every detail and see a live preview in the design-your-own strap builder, or describe a one-off piece through the bespoke watch strap service.

What is a good gift for a watch lover under $100?

A handmade leather watch strap is one of the few watch gifts under $100 made for one particular watch. XILUGS straps are cut and hand-stitched to order in Ha Noi, Vietnam, from $69 in calfskin, cowhide, patina leather or canvas with leather trim (Epsom from $75). They come in lug widths from 12 to 24 mm, include free engraving of up to 12 characters on the lining, and ship to the US for a flat $5.99.

Can I buy a leather watch strap as a gift without knowing the lug width?

You need the lug width, the gap between the watch's lugs in millimetres, because a strap fits only one width. Look up the watch model's specifications, measure the end of the old strap, or check the size guide. XILUGS makes lug widths from 12 to 24 mm. Engraved or custom-spec straps cannot be returned unless faulty, so confirm the size before adding an engraving.

How early should I order a handmade watch strap as a gift?

Each XILUGS strap is made to order in 3–5 business days in the Ha Noi workshop, then takes about 10–12 days in transit to the US with flat $5.99 shipping. Allow about three weeks from order to delivery before a birthday or holiday. Shipping to Canada, the EU, the UK, Australia and New Zealand costs $15, and any import duties are the customer's responsibility.

How long does delivery to the US take?

Every strap is made to order in 3–5 business days in Ha Noi, then ships to the US for a flat $5.99 with about 10–12 days in transit. US orders over $350 ship free. Shipping to Canada, the EU, the UK, Australia and New Zealand is $15. All prices are in USD, and any import duties are the customer's responsibility.

What is the XILUGS return policy?

You can return unused, non-personalised items within 30 days of delivery. Defective items are covered whenever the defect appears. Straps that are engraved or made to a custom specification cannot be returned unless they are faulty. Each order arrives in a wooden box that holds up to four straps, with a foam insert and a spring-bar tool.
