Lug & Buckle Width
Lug width is the gap between the two lugs of your watch case, where the strap fits. Your strap has to match it exactly.
Most watches are 18, 20 or 22 mm. Measure inner edge to inner edge with a ruler — or flip your old strap over: the width is often printed inside.
Our sizes read lug / buckle: 20 / 18 mm is 20 mm at the watch, 18 mm at the buckle. Only the first number has to match your watch.

Buckle width
The width of the strap where the buckle sits — the second number in our sizes. 20 / 18 mm means 18 mm at the buckle.

Strap Length Guide
Every strap has two parts: the long end with the holes and the short end with the buckle. 115 / 70 mm means 115 mm long, 70 mm short.
Wrap a soft tape — or a paper strip — just above the wrist bone. Snug, not tight. Then find your size below.

Straight or curved end?
This is the end of the strap that meets your watch case.
Straight end — cut straight across. Fits almost any watch; a small gap at the case is normal.
Curved end — cut in an arc to follow the round edge of the case, so the strap sits flush with no gap. Tell us your watch brand and model and we’ll match the curve.

The two small leather loops on the buckle half — the strap tail slides through them so it lies flat.

A good rule: the thicker the watch case, the thicker the strap can be.
Check the gap between your lugs and the case. Some watches have a tight gap, and a thick padded strap may not fit. If unsure, send us a photo of your watch in the Note / Watch Photo fields and we'll confirm before cutting.

The leather
Ostrich Leg Leather
Ostrich leg is the other half of the bird and looks nothing like the crown: instead of round follicles it carries hard scales, closer to a reptile than to a bird. This piece is cut from a run where the scales stay fine and even along the whole strap rather than widening towards the knee — a quieter, more regular pattern than a graduated leg. It is tougher than crown ostrich and holds a sharper edge. The scale run is unique to each leg, so the pattern on your strap belongs to that piece alone — refer to the product photos.

Every strap arrives in a wooden box
No envelopes, no plastic mailers. Every XILUGS order ships in our own wooden box, lined with a shock-absorbing foam insert that holds up to four straps securely in place. A spring bar tool is tucked inside, so you can fit your new strap the day it arrives, and the box keeps your collection safe long after.
