Lug & Buckle Width
Lug width is the gap between the two lugs of your watch case, where the strap fits. Your strap has to match it exactly.
Most watches are 18, 20 or 22 mm. Measure inner edge to inner edge with a ruler — or flip your old strap over: the width is often printed inside.
Our sizes read lug / buckle: 20 / 18 mm is 20 mm at the watch, 18 mm at the buckle. Only the first number has to match your watch.

Buckle width
The width of the strap where the buckle sits — the second number in our sizes. 20 / 18 mm means 18 mm at the buckle.

Strap Length Guide
Every strap has two parts: the long end with the holes and the short end with the buckle. 115 / 70 mm means 115 mm long, 70 mm short.
Wrap a soft tape — or a paper strip — just above the wrist bone. Snug, not tight. Then find your size below.

Straight or curved end?
This is the end of the strap that meets your watch case.
Straight end — cut straight across. Fits almost any watch; a small gap at the case is normal.
Curved end — cut in an arc to follow the round edge of the case, so the strap sits flush with no gap. Tell us your watch brand and model and we’ll match the curve.

The two small leather loops on the buckle half — the strap tail slides through them so it lies flat.

A good rule: the thicker the watch case, the thicker the strap can be.
Check the gap between your lugs and the case. Some watches have a tight gap, and a thick padded strap may not fit. If unsure, send us a photo of your watch in the Note / Watch Photo fields and we'll confirm before cutting.

The leather
Hand-Dyed Patina
Patina leather starts as a pale crust calf with no pigment layer sealing the surface. Colour is brushed on in thin coats and allowed to sink in, which is why the finish shifts as it catches light and why it keeps ageing on your wrist.
Every strap in this line is burnished black along the edge, so the colour is at its deepest in the middle of the strap and fades into a near-black border. That gradient is done by hand and is never identical twice.
Expect the leather to darken slightly at the fold points over the first months. That is the strap taking the shape of how you wear it, not wear and tear. Keep it away from prolonged water and it will outlast the buckle.

No envelopes, no plastic mailers. Every XILUGS order ships in our own wooden box, lined with a shock-absorbing foam insert that holds up to four straps securely in place.
